Allow for Meditation
Relieve Migraine Headache
9. Spend time with Friends!
One of the very best ways to chill is some hang-time with friends. Sharing a laugh, a coffee and a cupcake will do wonders for your stress-level. Feeling particularly anxious? Time to plan a girls night!
A recent study shows that during stressful times, being around a best friend decreases levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
“These findings provide a better understanding as to how close relationships might serve as buffers against the adjustment difficulties that result from negative experiences,” researchers wrote in the study.
Listening to music can be very relaxing—and slow tempos in particular can induce a calm state of mind. (It can also slow down breathing and heart rate, lower blood pressure, and relax tense muscles too). This can be particularly beneficial when you’re getting ready for a tough day at work, or if you’re in your car stuck in traffic, or, if you’re lying in bed trying to free your mind of stressful thoughts. So when you are feeling tense and overwhelmed listen to your jam! What is your fave feel-good song?
