We are lucky to live so close to the awe-inspiring beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, otherwise known as The Land of the Blue Mist. There is something incredibly romantic about the look and feel of our mountains, and it offers a magical spot for a wedding. Who doesn’t want to get married on top of the world?
Thousands of years ago the Cherokee Indians named the area “Shaconagay” which literally translates to “Land of the Blue Smoke.”
The “smoke” is actually a mist created by the respiration of the trees which grow so densely in the moist habitat provided by the mountains.
Artist Paul Sachtleben captured the ethereal beauty of the mist in his Native American painting, Land of the Blue Mist
Talented photographer Danielle Harris, inspired by the Land of the Blue Mist and joined by a team of fellow creatives, recently orchestrated a romantic styled shoot amidst the Tennessee mountains. With nature as the backdrop and a palette of beautiful blues, the shoot featured models Zack and Jessica (a recently married, real-life couple!). Their love is evident and adds the perfect touch to the photos. Zack is dapper in his classic Tux from Regal Tuxedo and we think Jessica is absolutely stunning in her Justin Alexander dress from The Gilded Gown. We added some sheer net sleeves to her gown for a bit more enchantment.
We are so proud that the alluring shoot was recently featured in Adorn Magazine! Congrats to Danielle for spectacularly photographing the event! Every single shot showcases the magnificence of The Great Smoky Mountains from the soaring views, to the mountain sky, the lush trees and the romantic mist surrounding it all. We are so blessed to have this splendid park at our doorstep!
Every detail echoed the beauty of nature and re-enforced the mountain-fresh theme. Whitewashed furniture added a touch of elegance.
We love the moss, ribbon and flowers adorning the rustic, unfussy wedding cake!
Danielle’s notes on the shoot:
“The smoky mountains in Tennessee are known as The Land of the blue mist..this is where we found our inspiration. Driving up the mountain you couldn’t help but be in awe of the natural surrounding beauty..the mountains crowd you on either side, and as you go higher, more and more dramatic peaks covered by beautiful blue mist. Stepping out into the sky, there’s a surreal moment when it’s just you and an awe-inspiring view. Nothing can compare to it. It feels like you are standing on top of the world as you marry your best friend. There’s no better feeling than that. This inspiration is overflowing with something blue details, loose romantic flowers, and streaming silk ribbon. We wanted the details to blend seamlessly with the landscape of the mountains, providing an organic and romantic feel at 5,000 feet.”
