Here is a handy checklist to help you get everything nailed down for the BEST PROM NIGHT EVER! Yay Prom 2017.

The first step is to find your dress! …Everything depends on the dress. You want something that makes you feel your most beautiful and is also comfortable. You’ll be eating, riding in the car and dancing in this gown, so you want to be able to breathe and move in it. PLUS you need a dress SO SPECIAL that you’ll still love it ten years from now when you are looking back at your prom pics. #IstillLOVEthatdress

Visit The Gilded Gown to get an idea about what style and color dress makes you the happiest. No matter your size, taste or budget we have endless options to choose from. AND we have convenient layaway terms, so if you do happen to find THE dress, you can easily afford it. Shopping early pays off since we register every dress sold. This way everyone who shops with us can be sure they will be in an original look on their special night. Once a dress style is taken for a school is no longer available to other girls.

Once you have the dress, everything else revolves around it. Complete your look with shoes and accessories, and a cute clutch. Consider a shrug or cover up in case your prom night gets chilly. Take your time and source the best undergarments for you gown.

Check out our fabulous accessory department at The Gilded Gown, (remember these are always half off with a dress purchase):

Once you have your shoes and undergarments, it is time to schedule an appointment with your alterationist. You’ll need to bring those items to your first fitting appointment so your seamstress can custom tailor your gown to you. If you need a recommendation for a good seamstress we have a list available at the front counter at The Gilded Gown.

You’ll be wanting just the right hairstyle and makeup for Prom. Visit Sephora and Ulta, plus check out youtube for makeup looks you like. Local makeup artists are awesome, so call around and schedule a consultation. This is the night for false eyelashes! Also schedule a run-through of your hairstyle with your stylist ahead of time. That way on prom day you will be guaranteed to look your best. Don’t forget to schedule a mani-pedi & spray tan if you want an extra glow.

You’ll also need to take care of things like planning your ride. Will you be riding with your date, with friends or going solo? Consider hiring a limo with a group for maximum savings and fun! Make sure the prom tickets get purchased. Make your reservations for din-din and after prom fun (or confirm that your date has). Don’t forget the florals: order a coordinating corsage &/or boutonniere. Consider packing ahead for your special night. Fill a tote with  makeup, brush, hairspray, bobby pins, hair elastics, toothbrush & toothpaste, mints, gum, energy bars, water, nail file, your id, money, clear nail polish, safety pins, bandaids, aspirin, your phone, a change of clothes and comfy shoes. Hey you’ll be prepared for anything. Throw in some duct tape and you’ll really be covered.
