Vintage Inspired Wedding Dresses, A Stunning Styled Shoot with Taylor Martin Photography

At The Gilded Gown we have a love for the beautiful style of bygone eras. Scroll through the decades, and no matter what period you land on we will immediately imagine styles we adore associated with that time. (And, we also think of what dresses we have in stock that can evoke that style.) For instance, bring up the 1920s and we immediately picture elaborately beaded gowns. The era also brings to mind opulent, Great Gatsby-esque, Art Deco fashion: shimmery skirts to dance the night away in, cloche hats, long strands of pearls and adorably bobbed hair. The Seventies? The rock-n-roll/hippie aesthetic of those years appeals to our sensibilities: long flowing clothing, wildflowers, elements of embroidery, lace details and a bohemian look. Looking to styles of the past is a splendid way to theme your wedding. You can embrace the details that you love about an era and blend it seamlessly with modern touches to make it your own.

Local photographer Taylor Martin recently felt inspired to put together a vintage inspired wedding dress photo shoot. So when he approached us at The Gilded Gown about possibly providing the dresses and accessories to help him fulfill his vision, we jumped at the opportunity to participate. #YES

Taylor pulled together a team of talented wedding pros to collaborate with and beautifully captured the timeless essence of so many eras. And our dresses never looked so lovely:

We love this peek behind-the-scenes from the shoot, where the beautiful models from Gage Talent had their gorgeous hair and on-point makeup perfectly done by the artists from Honey and Co.

We are absolutely captivated by the stunning images Taylor created against the backdrop of The Kincaid House in Clinton, TN. The Kincaid House, neatly nestled on a picturesque 4-acre property, is perfect for a period specific wedding. The property includes an immaculate dutch colonial home set in harmony with an enchanting, English garden, plus large, fragrant and neatly clipped boxwoods. Perched in front of the garden is a stunning stone tower gazebo, an ideal focal point for your magical “I do” moment and endless photo possibilities.

The timeless elegance of a sweetheart ballgown makes us swoon. This is a style that has been in fashion for more than sixty years, and will be for years into the future. Brides if you are looking for a classic silhouette that oozes romance we suggest this style. Taylor, you knocked it out of the park with these images of our Justin Alexander lace wedding dress with appliques:

Bridal Design House Justin Alexander is also responsible for this Lillian West bridal gown. We totally get a 1970s vibe from this unique V-neck allover lace gown with eyelash lace details at the neckline, bell sleeves, illusion back, and chapel length train.

An earlier time and place comes to mind with this beaded, cap sleeved gown also by Justin Alexander. This lovely trumpet gown, paired with a simple crown and long veil, could have easily been from the 1920s.
