WEDDING INSPIRATION: Spanish Chic, Colorful Hacienda Style Wedding #SpanishChicWedding

We are crazy for the colorful, textured sights and sounds of Spain and Mexico. And so, of course, we think Spanish Chic is a perfect wedding theme. Plus warmth, passion and love are hallmarks of Spanish values, all good things to celebrate at a marriage ceremony. For your own Spanish style festivities filled with love, family, and culture—be sure to use wood, vibrant flowers, tile, and plenty of pottery—as these are the hallmarks of hacienda style! These fun and lively elements are sure to set the tone for your unforgettable event. Further set the stage by incorporating floral crowns, fans, tile patterns, bougainvillea, Latin flavors and Tequila to bring home the Spanish flair to your wedding decor! If you can find a location featuring a bougainvillea covered archway leading to a fountain, grab it!!! Muy bonita!!!

Image result for bougainvillea

No matter your location, you can give the feeling of a Hacienda with small touches of colorful ceramic pottery, tiles, and flowers:

Let your guests know the style of your event up front with your invitations. Papel Picado, considered to be Mexican Folk Art, is a decorative craft made out of colorful tissue paper cut into beautiful and elaborate designs. These Papel Picado style invites from minted.com are perfect for any Latino inspired nuptials: invitations, in your choice of colors, priced at $2.34 each, by award-winning designer Andres Montano. Major perk: If you order your invites from minted.com you will receive a free wedding website too! #Ole!

For bridal styling, we suggest wearing an extra-long cathedral veil (big enough to snuggle under!), huge & colorful bouquets, and definitely flowers for your hair! #Perfecto!

A lace veil, and floral embellished guitar are the epitome of Spanish chic. #Increíble!

We think this Romantic Bridals gown, composed of lace and chiffon with a beaded halter top and illusion lace back, lends itself in the loveliest ways to a Spanish themed wedding.

Add a shot of fun and whimsy to your day with an array of South-of-the-border inspired DIY projects. Super easy and affordable ideas: Use a paint marker to add names and table numbers on beautiful tiles that can double as place cards and favors. Glue scraps of lace to Terra Cotta pots filled with succulents for your tablescapes and decor. If you are feeling super-inspired, purchase an Esperanza Lace Tile Stencil to jazz up your reception site from Royal Design Studio Stencils.

You can take the theme bright and colorful with pops of fun colors to offset your neutrals.

Or you can focus in on a single color, in this case burgundy:

Get the good times rolling with a Spanish themed cocktail, Sangria Bar or shot. Viva la Vida!

Other ideas for your event: How about a welcoming “Bienvenidos” sign swagged with greenery, a cigar bar and/or Mexican candies in matchboxes.

However you chose to celebrate Spanish culture at your wedding you can’t get it wrong. Any touches you chose to highlight are sure to delight you, your guests and your amor de mi vida!.

TREND ALERT: Animals in Your Wedding #FurryFriends #PetsinMyWedding

Do you adore animals? If so, we suggest you jump on the trend-wagon and make plans to include them in your wedding. Fact is, if you and/or your fiancee are “animal people” it stands to reason that you would want to include them in your special day. After all pets are part of the family – so they should take part in your wedding where all your favorite people are gathered. It might be a bit more work and take a little extra planning, but including your beloved pet will take your wedding to the next level. And folks, these special wedding additions are super popular this year. So many weddings are incorporating furry friends in tons of creative ways!

Maybe you’ve been in love with horses since you were a little girl.

Conversely, could you possibly be described as a “crazy cat lady”?

Maybe his best friend is his Standard Poodle. Or you have a beloved French Bulldog. Add them to the mix on your wedding. Dogs make terrific ring-bearers and sign holders. Plus dogs are great fun ambassadors for your guests (and you!).

Are you having a rustic barn wedding? Consider surrounding yourselves with some farm-yard chickens like this lovely couple photographed by award-winning, top-rated Heather Parker Photography:

Donkeys, aplacas and llamas….oh my!

Perhaps you just want some darling, fuzzy friends for everyone to enjoy. Up the cute factor by adding floral crowns or garlands. Awwww, we don’t know which is more adorable; the baby deer, the fuzz-bun or the super-sweet dog!

Perhaps he’s always been fascinated with giraffes, or monkeys, or….. elephants!!! An elephant with the bride and groom is pretty exciting. This guy might just steal the show. And, talk about some extraordinary wedding pics!!!

If you are wondering where you can find less traditional animals, do a quick google search to find a company that services your area. Suggested searches: “rent farm animals, ” “exotic animals for your party,” “mini petting zoo rental,” etc.

REAL WEDDING: Intimate Beach Ceremony for Gilded Gown Bride #FamilyWedding #BeachWedding

BridalPulseBridalPulse

We were thrilled to be part of a very romantic and intimate beach wedding that was recently published on BridalPulse. The ceremony took place in picturesque Topsail Island, North Carolina and was beautifully captured by Asher & Emily Photography!

Staci and her groom, Kevin, adore beach vacations. And, it was after a memorable trip to Folly Beach, SC that the couple began planning their dream wedding. In their minds, their day would take place on the beach, in the sand, and be simple and small. They dreamed of renting an ocean front house where their immediate family could stay with them. Their dreams came true on their wedding day, and it unfolded just as they had envisioned with the spectacular backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and sunny blue skies surrounding them. And the sand in their toes. #beachweddingenvy

The gorgeous bride, Staci, found her amazing Justin Alexander wedding dress here at The Gilded Gown. This low-key lady wanted something with a “vintage feel” that wasn’t too glitzy. Her selection of this lace overlay fit and flare gown fit the bill and worked seamlessly with her low-fuss, beachy vibe.

Staci customized her gown by making a few minor adjustments.

“It had a flower on the front,” Staci recalled. “I had this changed to a different bridal sash and it ended up looking so much better that way. It was the first time I had ever felt like a princess.”

We love when brides personalize their dresses to fit their wedding vision.

We love that Mom, barefoot like everyone else, escorted Staci down the sandy aisle.

The couple’s love for one another is evident in every single shot. Awww… to be young, beautiful and in love!!!

The guests, all close family, surround the couple with love and support. We’re pretty sure they didn’t mind a beach vacay either!

The cake by The Corner Sweet fit the beach theme with yummy sea glass green frosting along with starfish and shell embellishments. The meal, barbeque, was casual and fun, catered by: Surf City BBQ

A question many couples ponder is: “Should We Take That First Look, Or Not?”

For this couple, the answer was “Yes!” Staci and Kevin decided they wanted a special moment together before the wedding. Staci explained. “It made the anxiety of the day next to none and really gave us that personal moment to have ‘real expressions’ of seeing each other for the first time.”

WEDDING INSPIRATION: Purple Romance from Lindsey Mae Designs and Blush Creative #PurpleWedding #WeddingOnFleek

We were thrilled to be recently published on Bride Link! The Gilded Gown was selected to provide the perfect bridal gown for a recent wedding photo shoot  held at The Standard, a distinctive event space in the heart of downtown Knoxville, beautifully styled by Lindsey Mae Designs and photographed by Blush Creative Photography.

The creative force behind the shoot, Lindsey had a clear idea of what kind of wedding she wanted: “When coming up with a vision for our styled shoot I wanted to create something that was different than most shoots you see this season! The Standard was the perfect venue with the natural wood floors & the vintage walls. When my ideas started coming together I was looking outside the boxes of normal flowers to find what would come in shades of purple.”

Lindsey, along with her co-vendors, produced a stunning tableaux of dark wood, lush greenery, pops of silver, succulents, all shades of purple and DONUTS! Heck yeah!!!

Here’s a close up of the lovely, lovely hand-crafted donuts provided by Makers Donuts in Knoxville, TN. Lindsey wanted to find a fun alternative to a traditional wedding cake, and she nailed it with these blueberry confections!

An abundant swag of greenery coupled with two rustic signs, transforms simple folding chairs into a stunning focal point.

Romance and whimsy abound in the beautifully colorful styled wedding.  We adore how Lindsey utilized bold blues, plums, lavender, combined with both modern and vintage details and lush florals to bring her vision to life.  From the wood floors to the vintage walls, natural elements and purple details make this shoot an absolute dream! This spectacular tablescape incorporates all the elements in a stunning way.

The pops of silver and green really enhance the power of purple! We love, love, love the delicately hued china courtesy of Sassy Settings and furnishings from Anderson Rental Company.

The adorable couple! The groom is dressed to the nines by Prestige Tuxedo and, of course, the gorgeous bride wears a stunning English Net ballgown (designed by Sweetheart) with a darling net handkerchief layered skirt from The Gilded Gown. Oh, and that AMAZING bouquet is all thanks to Echelon Florist:

6 Unique Wedding Guest Book Ideas #WeddingGuestBookAlternatives

We love how friends and family congregate at weddings to celebrate a new couple. And we think each guest should be remembered and appreciated. Wedding Guest Books provide a space for guests to mark their attendance, but they are, well, kind of unimaginative. And, after the wedding, the sweet sentiments recorded in them are usually carefully packed away in a drawer never to be seen again. So we sourced some unusual options for your special day that provide a bit more pizzazz than a plain ole book. These unique wedding guest book ideas are fun for your guests and might actually be displayed and/or used in your home, keeping the love visible for years to come.

INSPIRATION: Nudie Cohn’s Nudie Suits and our Azzure Couture #FloralEmbroideredGown #NudieSuitDress

Welcome to our ode to one of the best clothing designers, EVER, the flamboyantly-amazing Nudie Cohn. Nudie was born in Russia, but immigrated to the US with a dream to become a tailor. While traveling across the US he stopped in Minnesota at a boarding house, and it was there that he met his future wife Bobbie. Together they made a move to New York City where Nudie found a job as a burlesque costume designer. Eventually the young couple made their way out to California where they began making clothes out of their garage. Nudie, who had always loved watching the old westerns and seeing the American cowboys, had himself a life-changing idea. Nudie decided to approach several country stars and offer to make them suits. His charm and personality won the day and he actually talked his way into becoming a world famous designer. Word got around and his reputation grew. By the 1950s Nudie had opened his own shop in Hollywood and convinced Roy Rogers and Dale Evans to let him be their custom tailor. Roy Rogers is credited with making Nudie’s gaudy, glittery suits acceptable for cowboys. Nudie went on to design the most over-the-top decorative rhinestone-encrusted, floral embroidered suits, known as “Nudie Suits” for music royalty and celebs alike.

Nudie had a style all his own. He wore his own crazy-cool suits around town, but always wore a mismatched pair of boots to keep himself grounded and to remember his humble beginnings when he could not even afford a pair of matching shoes. To learn more about this spectacular sartorial genius visit The Official Nudie’s Website.

Nudie

As Nudie’s reputation grew more and more stars had to have their own customized rhinestone cowboy suits, like Porter Wagner,Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Elton John, Keith Richards and Sly Stone.

Even modern-day celebs, like Kesha, love themselves some Nudie action:

When Gilded Gown owner, Jacqui Wadsworth, saw this Azzure Couture gown at market she was instantly reminded of Nude’s ostentatious extravagance. Currently available in store in blush or black this lavishly embroidered floral gown features all the flash that Nudie loved.

Side note: Jacqui has a personal connection with the Nudie brand, as she actually met with Bobbie Cohn and sold her thread many years ago. How cool is that?

We love folks who embrace their own style and don’t mind strutting around in out of the ordinary looks. If you are feeling the love for this heroic designer and would like to try a Nudie Suit inspired gown, we invite you to visit The Gilded Gown. We wish we could come pick you up in one of Nudie’s customized convertibles….

And one more thing, NUDIE also designed the famed GOLD LAME suit for Elvis. YEAH! We certainly feel a kinship with a man who makes a golden, gilded suit such as this. Thank you Nudie for your legacy. We love you!

The Very Best Bridal Dress Trends for Spring 2017 #BridalGownTrends

As we enter the newest Bridal Season, we like to celebrate our favorite trends. For Spring 2017, we are applauding Illusion Tops, Cascading Ballgown Skirts, Plunging Necklines, Over-sized Bows, and all sorts of adorable Bridal Gown Toppers.

Wedding toppers are those cute little extras that you can so easily slip on over your dress, be it a caplet, shawl or jacket. With the warmer season comes lots of destination weddings, folks are getting hitched at the beach, in barns, lakeside and in picturesque fields. If you are getting married in such a location, remember that sometimes a chill comes in the evening time and a topper is just the thing to complete your look and keep you comfortable.

Or, you may have a strapless dress that just needs…a little something. A jeweled caplet can evoke another era and add lots of personality to your gown. This extra glam diamond rhinestone caplet captures the feels of the stylish 1920s and is available for $125, from StaysiLeeCouture on etsy here:

Maybe you have a finely-developed fashion sense and require a pink feathered overlay to add some interest to your look:

Perhaps you want more coverage for your special day, in which case a lace jacket is the perfect addition.

Shawls are stealing the scene, as they simply go over your neck and add all sorts of beautiful interest, like this one in lace:

Whatever your situation, consider a wedding topper as the perfect finishing touch to your ensemble.

Over-sized bows are coming back to the bridal scene in a big way this season. And, the runway is quickly translating to wedding aisles, as more and more brides embrace this look.  This flirty and fun look is for the consummate girlie-girl. What is more feminine than a giant bow accent on your wedding dress: the bigger, the better? This whimsical wedding day accent is so versatile because bows can be worn in the front, back, or even on the side of your gown. And you can easily tie a bow in any color and/or fabric you like to your dress.

But sometimes a trend is a little TOO much, ne c’est pas? We do not recommend putting a huge bow on your head. Ever.

Just as the flowers bloom in springtime, the bridal runways are blossoming with softly tinted gowns in shades of gold, blush and pale blue.

Justin Alexander’s stunning pearl pink gown designed in silk is the softest tinted gown, and we just love it:Image result for Fully Beaded Sweetheart Bodice with Silk Dupion Skirt 8883

David Tutera’s gorgeous take on tinted, this strapless hand-beaded lace appliqué, organza and memory taffeta trumpet dress is in SeaMist, the palest bluish green:

Still going strong, the Illusion Bodice trend seems to be here to stay. We love the ultra-feminine coverage provided by this style as well as the ease of wear. With an illusion bodice you can have the look of a sweetheart strapless gown, but the support of gown with a top.

This fabulous dress by Sweetheart has loads of embroidered lace appliques that adorn the bodice of its’ gorgeous illusion top (also it is the palest, prettiest pink!):

The allure and sophistication of a deep plunging neckline is not lost on today’s top bridal designers. This hot trend is all over Pinterest and is a favorite of brides.

Sweetheart combines trends in this soft wedding gown which features an illusion top AND a deep v neckline. This wedding day look is loaded with beaded lace appliques and a Chantilly lace underlay. Lilac & Grey Wedding Palette Inspiration #LilacGreyWedding

Spring is here, and in the fresh, free spirit of the season, we are inspired by the cool-toned, neutral wedding palette of lilac and grey! A lilac and grey color story can be distinctive, very hip, yet also so understated and soothing! We like that you can add pops of plum, dark purple and green to perfectly compliment the look.

You can totally set the tone for your happy day by choosing invitations that reflect your theme.  Your guests will get a sense of what is in store for them at your wedding as soon as they open their envelopes. We love-love-love these romantic lavender laser-cut wedding invitations with grey ribbon bows from Elegant Wedding Invites. They are lavish, beautiful and memorable!

We sourced the absolute perfect suede ankle-tie sandals with cool Lucite block heels for this theme by Gianvito Rossi, available from Barneys for $1,145:

But for those of you on, shall we say, a tighter budget, how about these from designer Christian Siriano, $20 from Payless:

For your nails Walmart has the perfect lilac nail polish, St. Lucia Lilac, by Essie, available for $6.59.

For the groom, we sourced this perfectly amazing lilac jacket. This rocking version is available at ASOS, and priced at just $91:

Lavender and lilacs can be used in bouquets, favors and decor as a fragrant and beautiful addition to your decor. The pale greenish grey tones in succulents pair well with lilac colored florals. Vintage glass bottles in various hues of purple can be found at antique stores and grouped for a lovely display, filled with sprigs of lavender, or given as favors for the wedding guests.

A luxurious tablescape is possible by amassing floral elements with loads of greenery along with some metal goblets, pink glassware and grey pottery plates. So pretty! We love the diverse chair covers, especially the one with the floral swag attached. The way to achieve this look yourself is to go kind of overboard with the flowers and remember to layer different textures and colors to enhance your scheme. The items in the photo below don’t technically “match” but they most certainly “GO!”

Lilac macaroons work well with this theme, as do lavender flavored cupcakes. You can get a dozen lavender French macaroons, from MacaronsbyAdri on Etsy, for $24.

Lavender is a romantic addition to food. And, a wonderful favor idea is to make tiny jars of lavender sugar for your guests.

Lavender works: it immediately evokes the musky scent of summer without filling the mouth with soapy perfume. To make lavender sugar, just cut up a few lavender sprigs and keep them in a jar of granulated sugar for a few days.Nigella Lawson

And she’ll be sure to do loads more on her trip, too:  Try out a Celebrity Chef Restaurant. Sip a Frozen Drink (or two) Poolside. Take in a Broadway Show. Have a Slice of Pizza. Surf, Swim and Skydive. Shop. Rest. Why not do it all!

We have a feeling this might be the trip of a lifetime for Jori. And beautiful both inside and out, this ever-smiling & hard-working single mama deserves it!

If you are headed to a cruise in the near future, we invite you to come find your dream dresses for the occasion at The Gilded Gown. We are fully stocked in all sizes, styles and colors. The Prom gowns are NEXT LEVEL this year and work for any dress up social event.

Located in Knoxville Center Mall, we are open 11 am t0 7 pm Monday – Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 6 pm. Always offering personal stylists, easy layaways and friendly service, The Gilded Gown is your locally-owned formal wear boutique.

Bon Voyage Jori! We love you!!
